Composition

Benzalkonium Chloride (0.01 %) + Choline Salicylate (8.7 %) + Lidocaine / Lignocaine (2 %)

Dologel is a pain-relieving, antiseptic ointment used to treat mouth ulcers. This gel provides temporary relief from pain and discomfort caused by mouth ulcers. Mouth ulcers, also known as canker sores are painful sores that form on the inside of the mouth.

Ulcers can occur in the inner cheeks, gums, tongue, and palate. Ulcers can cause pain, swelling, and redness. These ulcers usually heal within a few weeks and are not contagious. This medication comes in the form of a topical gel and should be used as prescribed by a physician.

It is recommended that you clean your hands thoroughly both before and after the application of Dologel in your mouth. If you feel any side effects over a long period of usage, it is advised to seek medical attention immediately.

Route of administration

Dologel is a topical ointment and should be applied with clean hands on the affected area.

Dosage information:

Daily dose:

The recommended daily dose of Dologel CT to the affected area is 3-4 times, or as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage and number of applications depend upon the severity of mouth ulcers. Consult your doctor before exceeding the prescribed dosage.

Overdose:

Apply the gel strictly as prescribed by the doctor. In case of ingestion, consult the healthcare provider immediately. Overapplication may cause symptoms like itching, redness, irritation, burning sensation, and numbness.

Missed dose:

If you missed applying the gel, apply it as soon as you remember. If the time for the next dosage is close, it is recommended to skip the missed one now and resume your regular dosage pattern.

The following are Dologel side effects:

Skin irritation: Some people may suffer from skin irritation
Itching: Dologel use can cause itching in the affected area
Burning: Some people may experience burning sensation at the site of Dologel application
Redness: The skin of the affected area may become red
Numbness: Dologel ointment use may cause temporary numbness in the afflicted area.

These side effects may subside on their own after some time. In case of persistent problems, visit the nearest healthcare centre.

Managing the side effects

Skin irritation: Apply an ice pack to the affected area or aloe vera gel to soothe the area
Itching: Apply cold and wet cloth to the area to control itching. Do not rub the area.
Burning: The burning sensation in the mouth can be reduced by drinking cold liquids and sucking ice chips on the affected area.
Redness: Use chamomile essential oil or coconut oil to reduce redness in affected area
Numbness: The numbness is temporary and will subside on its own after some time.

Skin Disease

Dologel CT (8.7/2%) is composed of three components: Benzalkonium Chloride, Choline Salicylate (8.7%) and Lidocaine/Lignocaine (2%).

Choline salicylate present in Dologel CT is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever agent. It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation.
Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic agent. It blocks pain signals from the nerves to the brain.
Benzalkonium Chloride is an antiseptic and disinfectant.

Dologel CT is meant for strict topical use and should not be swallowed.
