Zymar Eye Ointment 5gm

Zymar Eye Ointment is used for the management of the following conditions:

• Bacterial conjunctivitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae: This is an eye infection caused by a type of bacteria.

• Conjunctivitis due to Staphylococcus aureus: Another species of bacteria that can infect the eye.

• Eye infections from Staphylococcus epidermidis: This bacterium can also lead to conjunctivitis.

• Conjunctivitis triggered by Streptococcus mitis group: These bacteria can cause an eye infection.

• Eye infection resulting from Streptococcus oralis: A strain of bacteria that can result in conjunctivitis.

• Conjunctivitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae: This bacterium is another causal agent for this kind of eye infection.

To apply Zymar Eye Ointment correctly, proceed as follows:

• Make sure your hands are clean before handling the ointment.

• Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to make a small pocket.

• Apply a small strip of the ointment into this eyelid pocket.

• Close your eyes for a minute or two to let the medicine spread across your eye's surface.

• Be careful not to touch your eyes or any other surface with the tip of the tube to prevent contamination.

• Remember, always consult your doctor for specific advice on how to use this medicine.

Zymar Eye Ointment is applied topically.

Desosoft Lotion contains Gatifloxacin (0.3%), which performs several actions in your body:

• Inhibits Enzymes: Gatifloxacin works by blocking two vital enzymes in bacterial cells: DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for various key functions like replication and repair of bacterial DNA.

• Interrupts Bacterial Growth: By inhibiting these enzymes, gatifloxacin obstructs the synthesis of bacterial DNA. This interruption in growth processes leads to the death of the bacterial cells, thus managing the infection in your eyes.

• Store Zymar Eye Ointment at room temperature in a cool and dark place.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Always ensure the ointment tube is tightly closed when not in use.

• Keep the ointment out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion or application.

• Use within one month after opening the tube.

• Practise good hygiene: Always wash your hands before applying the ointment. This reduces the risk of introducing more bacteria into your eyes, which can complicate bacterial conjunctivitis managed by Zymar Eye Ointment.

• Avoid rubbing your eyes: This can irritate your eyes further and might spread the infection to others. If you need to touch your eyes, make sure your hands are clean.
