Zostum 1.5g Injection 1

• Respiratory tract infections: Zostum 1.5 gm Injection can treat severe respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and lung abscesses.
• Urinary tract infections: Zostum 1.5 gm Injection can treat upper and lower urinary tract infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis.
• Intra-abdominal infections: Zostum 1.5 gm Injection is also used to treat severe intra-abdominal infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as peritonitis, abscesses, and infections of the biliary tract.
• Septicemia: It is a potentially life-threatening condition caused by the presence of harmful bacteria or other pathogens in the bloodstream. Symptoms of septicemia include fever, chills, rapid heartbeat, rapid breathing, confusion, and low blood pressure. Zostum 1.5 gm Injection may be used to treat septicemia. 
• Meningitis: It is an inflammation of the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, usually caused by a bacterial or viral infection. Symptoms can include headache, fever, stiff neck, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light. Zostum 1.5 gm Injection is not the first-line treatment for meningitis, but it may be used with other antibiotics to treat meningitis caused by susceptible organisms.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: Zostum 1.5 gm Injection is also used to treat severe skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as cellulitis, abscesses, and infected wounds.
• Bone and joint infections: Zostum 1.5 gm injection also extends to treating severe bone and joint infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as osteomyelitis and septic arthritis.
• Endometritis: Endometritis is an inflammation of the uterus lining, usually caused by a bacterial infection. Symptoms include pelvic pain, fever, abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge, and pain during sex. Zostum 1.5 gm Injection can also be used to treat endometritis.
• Other infections of the genital tract: Zostum 1.5 gm Injection may be used to treat other bacterial infections of the genital tract, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), epididymitis, and prostatitis, caused by susceptible organisms.

• Zostum 1.5 gm Injection should be administered by a healthcare provider. It is not recommended to be self-administered. 
• The timing of Zostum 1.5 gm Injection administration in relation to food intake will depend on the specific medical condition being treated.

Zostum 1.5 gm Injection dose can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly as prescribed by a doctor.

• Cefoperazone, an active ingredient in Zostum 1.5 gm Injection, is a third-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in the bacterial cell wall. It ultimately leads to the death of the bacteria. Cefoperazone has activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including many strains resistant to other antibiotics.
• Sulbactam, another active ingredient in Zostum 1.5 gm Injection, is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by some bacteria. Beta-lactamase enzymes can break down beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins, rendering them ineffective against the bacteria. By inhibiting the beta-lactamase enzymes, sulbactam helps to prevent the breakdown of Cefoperazone, enhancing the effectiveness of the antibiotic.

• Store Zostum 1.5 gm Injection at a temperature below 25 ºC. Do not freeze the injection.
• The reconstituted solution is stable for 7 days at 2°C-8°C and for 24 hours at 8°C-25°C.
• Discard the solution after specific periods.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Zostum 1.5 gm Injection away from children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and help loosen mucus in the respiratory tract.
• Avoid smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke.
• Practice good respiratory hygiene, such as covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
• Urinate frequently and completely to help prevent the growth of bacteria in the urinary tract.
• Eat a healthy and balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources.
• Practice good hygiene, such as washing your hands regularly and covering wounds.
• Avoid sharing personal items, such as towels or razors, to prevent the spread of infection.
• Seek prompt medical attention for any cuts or wounds that become red, swollen, or painful.
• Avoid douching, which can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina.
• Avoid using scented products in the genital area and douching, which can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina and increase the risk of infection.
• Practice safe sex by using condoms or other barrier methods to prevent the spreading of sexually transmitted infections.
