Xylocaine NF Cream is used for the following:

• Providing relief from pain caused by anal fissures

Follow these steps while using Xylocaine NF Cream:

• Ensure that the area around the anal canal is clean and dry before application.

• Apply the prescribed amount of the cream to the anal fissure and surrounding area.

• Gently massage the cream into the skin.

• Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream to prevent any potential spread of infection.

Xylocaine NF Cream contains two active ingredients:

• Lidocaine (1.5%): This local anaesthetic works by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the area where it's applied. By doing this, it prevents pain sensations from reaching your brain. Lidocaine achieves this effect by stabilising the neuronal membrane, which inhibits the ionic fluxes needed to start and conduct nerve impulses.

• Nifedipine (0.3%): Classified as a calcium channel blocker, nifedipine acts on the smooth muscle cells lining your anal canal, making them relax. This action helps relieve painful spasms associated with anal fissures and increases blood flow to the area, promoting tissue healing. Nifedipine achieves this by blocking the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac myocytes.

• Store Xylocaine NF Cream at a temperature not more than 25°C. Do not freeze it

• Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration can lead to hard stools, making bowel movements painful if you have an anal fissure.
