Potrate-SF Syrup is used for the following:

• Preventing recurrence of kidney stones, specifically calcium oxalate, uric acid, and cystine stones.

• Alkalinising the urine in patients with gout or specific inherited metabolic disorders.

• Management of renal tubular acidosis, a condition that affects the kidney's ability to properly balance acids and bases in the body.

• Correcting hypokalaemia or low blood potassium levels.

Use Potrate-SF Syrup as follows:

• Dilute the measured dosage in at least 120 mL (4 ounces) of water to avoid irritation in your stomach.

• It's best to take this medication after meals and at bedtime.

• Ensure you drink additional fluids after each dose to stay well-hydrated.

• Keep the syrup bottle tightly closed after use.

Potrate-SF Syrup is taken orally.

Potrate-SF Syrup contains two active ingredients:

• Potassium (1100 mg): This vital mineral helps correct hypokalaemia, a condition characterised by low blood potassium levels.

• Citric Acid (334 mg): This component reacts with hydrogen ions in the body to form bicarbonate, which raises urinary pH levels. The resulting alkaline urine prevents the formation of uric acid and cystine kidney stones. It also reduces the supersaturation of calcium oxalate and inhibits the crystallisation of stone-forming minerals. Furthermore, citric acid directly prevents calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate stone formation by forming soluble complexes with calcium.

• Store Potrate-SF Syrup in a cool, dark and dry place.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed, away from light, heat and moisture

• Ensure the syrup is out of reach of children

• If you're taking Potrate-SF Syrup for kidney stones, consider reducing your intake of high-oxalate foods like spinach, beetroot, and peanuts. This can decrease the likelihood of stone formation.

• In the case of gout management with Potrate-SF Syrup, limiting alcohol and sugary drinks could be beneficial as these can increase uric acid levels in your body. Remember to consult your doctor about these dietary changes.
