Contraindications

Those affected by galactosaemia (a severe genetic disorder where you cannot digest galactose) should also refrain from using this medication Moreover, individuals with gastrointestinal obstruction, indicating a blockage in the gut, acute inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, digestive perforation or risk of digestive perforation, or abdominal pain of undetermined cause should not take Lactulose. 

Other Medications To Avoid With This Medicine

• Using Lactulose along with thiazides, steroids and amphotericin B may increase the loss of potassium. Also be cautious when using cardiac glycosides like digitalis.. It is imperative to consult your doctor before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medication may cause symptoms like diarrhoea, loss of electrolytes and abdominal pain. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor and follow the advice accordingly.
• If you forget to take this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. But avoid repeating the dose.
