• This combination medication is meant primarily for adults and children above the age of 2 years.

Contraindications

• Dexamethasone + Gentamicin is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to either dexamethasone or gentamicin.

• It is also contraindicated in patients with viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, and mycobacterial or fungal infections of the eye.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with antiviral eye drops (e.g., ganciclovir), other ophthalmic corticosteroids (e.g., prednisolone) or antibiotic eye drops (e.g., tobramycin), which could increase the risk of local side effects or reduce therapeutic efficacy.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medication may cause severe eye irritation, dizziness or signs of allergic reaction. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately.

• If you forget to apply this ointment, do it as soon as you remember. But avoid repeating the application.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage minor eye irritation.

• Try adjusting the timing of medication application if you experience burning or stinging after application.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Dexamethasone + Gentamicin does not generally affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery. However, if you experience any disturbance in vision after its use, avoid these activities until your vision is clear.

• It's advised to consult your doctor before using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
