How Cinitapride + Pantoprazole works

  • Cinitapride + Pantoprazole is a gastroprokinetic and proton pump inhibitor combination.

  • Cinitapride works by activating certain types of serotonin receptors (5-HT1 and 5-HT4) found on stomach and intestine muscles and nerves. This causes the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which improves the movement of food through the stomach and intestines.

  • Pantoprazole acts by blocking an enzyme system (H+/K+ ATPase, also known as the proton pump) present on certain cells in the stomach. This stops the final step of acid production, reducing both the amount of acid made by the stomach under normal conditions and when stimulated (for example, by food). The combined action of these two components helps to relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic ulcer disease by both speeding up digestion and reducing acid production in the stomach.
