Tanning occurs in the epidermis, the skin’s outermost layer. Melanocytes are a type of cell that makes up about 5% of the cells in your epidermis. Melanocytes create melanin, the pigment responsible for your tan when exposed to ultraviolet B light (short wave UV). Melanin penetrates through the epidermis and is absorbed by other skin cells. Melanin oxidizes or darkens when exposed to ultraviolet A radiation (a longer wavelength). This darkening is your skin’s way of defending itself from overexposure to UV rays.
Naturally, the tan gets removed by cells. After a month, the epidermis’ germinative layer (also known as the live epidermis) clears older cells into the horny layer (dead epidermis). Melanin-laden cells are lost as your skin replaces its cells. As a result, the tan removal procedure must be repeated with the new cells. Bengal gram flour makes skin tender and turmeric is an excellent skin brightening agent. This tan removal treatment is highly effective for tan removal.
Procedure:- Add 1 tsp of turmeric into one cup of Bengal gram flour, mix with water or milk and make a thin paste. Apply this combination to a tanned face and allow it to dry before washing it away gently with lukewarm water.
It is excellent for tanned and sunburned skin. Cucumber has a cooling impact and can aid tan removal.
Procedure:- To get the juice from a cucumber shred it and squeeze it. Apply the juice to the skin with a cotton ball. Allow it to dry before washing.
Potato juice is also well-known to remove tan from the face, and it is frequently used to brighten dark bags under the eyes.
Procedure:- Juice from raw potatoes Apply it immediately to your skin and leave it on for 10-12 minutes before washing it off.
Because papaya has bleaching properties, it is a good choice for eliminating suntan. This pack contains honey, which moisturizes and soothes the skin.
Procedure:- 1/2 cup papaya and 1 tablespoon honey, mashed together, and allow this pack to rest on the tanned regions for half an hour before washing it off with cold water.
This face mask is jam-packed with skin-tanning-removal properties. While oatmeal gently exfoliates the skin, buttermilk’s lactic acid softens it and removes tan from the face.
Procedure:- Combine three tablespoons of buttermilk and two tablespoons of oats in a mixing bowl. Massage the tanned area with this pack and then wash it off.
Yoghurt hydrates and calms the skin. While the orange’s citric acid acts as a skin bleaching agent, vitamin C aids in skin rejuvenation by eliminating free radicals.
Procedure:- In one tablespoon of yoghurt, add one tablespoon of orange juice. Apply this pack to your tanned skin and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing it off with cold water.
On tanned skin, sandalwood and coconut water work miracles. Both are rich in ingredients that remove tan from the face.
Procedure:- To get a paste-like consistency, combine one tablespoon each of sandalwood powder and coconut water. Apply this to your face and wait for it to dry. The face should be washed with cool water. This can be done three times per week.
Strawberries have natural skin lightening qualities since they are high in AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) and vitamin C. Milk’s cream deliciousness locks in moisture deep into the skin, making it seem soft and healthy.
Procedure:- Mash a few ripe strawberries well, then whisk in 2 teaspoons of fresh cream to make a lump-free paste. Apply this to your face and tanned skin and leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Pineapples include Bromelain, an enzyme that fights free radicals in the skin and lowers inflammation. It is also high in vitamin A, C, and antioxidants. Which helps to repair UV damage and keep the skin even-toned and remove tan from the face.
Procedure:- Put 5-6 cubes of fresh, chopped ripe pineapple in a blender with 1 teaspoon of honey and pulse until smooth. Pour into a bowl and apply to tanned areas of your skin. Wash after 20 minutes.
Green tea is well-known for its antioxidants, which aid in the treatment of tanned skin and the reduction of blemishes.
Procedure:- Apply it to the tanned areas with a cotton ball and leave it on for 10 minutes before washing it off.
Almonds contain vitamin E, which aids in the treatment of sunburns and remove tan from the face.
Procedure:- Make a paste of 4-5 almonds and rose water, then apply it to the afflicted tanned regions and scrub for 5 minutes.

The same tan removal home remedies that we use on our faces may be used on our arms, but because the skin on our arms is thicker than our faces, the potato lemon packs work very well. The potatoes have inherent bleaching capabilities, and when combined with citric acid, they help to easily erase the tan.
Procedure- Combine equal parts freshly squeezed potato and lemon, together with 1 teaspoon rose water, in a mixing bowl. Apply liberally with a cotton pad to the tanned parts of your hands and arms. Wait for 20 minutes and then wash it off.
Sun-exposed feet can quickly turn black. Tan feet’s skin may appear withered and old. Use a tan removal scrub such as sugar scrub, lemon, and milk to restore the natural colour of your skin and make your feet smooth.
Procedure- Mix equal parts lemon juice and sugar granules to make a tan removal for your foot. Scoop some tan removal scrub into your palms and gently rub it all over your feet. Scrub the dead skin layer off your feet and cleanse them.
