Curd is not bad for hypothyroidism. In fact, it’s considered beneficial for the thyroid gland due to its iodine content and overall nutritional value. However, if you’re taking thyroid medication, it’s advisable to wait four hours after consuming soy-based foods (like tofu or miso) before taking your medication, as soy may interfere with absorption.
Rice is not inherently bad for hypothyroidism, but there are some considerations. Brown rice, rich in complex carbohydrates, can ease digestion and promote bowel movements, benefiting those with hypothyroidism. However, all rice varieties may contain heavy metals like lead, arsenic, and mercury due to their watery growth environment, so it’s essential to choose and prepare rice wisely.
The calcium in milk can interfere with thyroid hormone absorption, so it’s best to avoid consuming milk around the same time as thyroid medication.
A breakfast for hypothyroid patients must include quinoa, a whole grain rich in nutrients and fiber, ragi, or Chia Seed Pudding, as it provide omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. You may also have greek yogurt with berries and honey and eggs.
Brazil nuts, hazel nuts, dried kiwi, raisin, dried apricots, dried cranberries blueberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds are good sources of selenium and zinc which are good for thyroid.
While there’s no specific restriction on biscuits, consider opting for whole-grain or gluten-free biscuits. Additionally, focus on nutrient-rich snacks like brazil nuts, hazel nuts which provide selenium, a mineral beneficial for thyroid health.
If you have hypothyroid, start your day with a glass of lukewarm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice. It helps detoxify, boosts immunity, and balances pH levels. You can also have turmeric milk. Turmeric has healing properties and supports thyroid health.
You can eat mix chapati or plain chapati, veg pulao or boiled brown rice, vegetables. Include vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, and bell peppers. They offer essential vitamins and minerals. Dal is a good source of protein and fiber. You can have dal with rice or chapati. Add a light salad with cucumber, tomatoes, and lettuce adds freshness and nutrients. Keep your dinner light and avoid heavy or spicy foods close to bedtime.
A red juice made with beetroot and carrot is good choice for thyroid. Cucumber juice, celery juice can also enhance thyroid gland function. Make sure it is freshly made and hasn’t lost its fibre. Green juice made with fresh spinach, amaranth, kale, coriander leaves, mint is good for thyroid.
